We invite you to a eventful day in the historic Nikolai Qarter! There are plenty of discoveries, hands-on activities and surprises in store for young and old alike. Look forward to the participatory circus, a family concert, creative craft sessions, colourful face painting and relaxing moments at the picnic bike. Just pop along and join in – we look forward to seeing you!

## Events &amp; Creative Activities

## Museum Laboratory Nikolai Quarter

11 a.m. – 5 p.m. | non-stop | in front of the Museum Laboratory (Poststraße 13)
**Fun and games just like in the old days**
Young people and the young at heart can try out games here that children enjoyed a hundred years ago.

12 p.m. – 5 p.m. | non-stop | next to the Museum Laboratory (Poststraße 11)
**Woodworking Workshop: Woodcraft for children**
Using nails and dowels, children can create small wooden crafts without any hot glue.

11 a.m. – 5 p.m. | non-stop | by the steps leading to the Ephraim Palace
**Picnic Bike**
Here you’ll find coffee, soft drinks, cake and a place where you can take a break with your own snacks and drinks.

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. | non-stop | in the Museum Laboratory (Poststraße 13)
**Off to the Masked Ball!**
An imaginative museum visit: at the masked ball, the Zwiebel family meets the Knoblauch family.

12 p.m. – 3 p.m. | non-stop | in front of the Museum Laboratory (Poststraße 13)
**KOMMIT Kids**
How should we go about researching what’s good for the mind and soul? At the FU Berlin stand, children and young people can have their say.

**Big Sound Workshop**
Under expert guidance, you’ll build your own stringed instruments from empty plastic bottles, tomato tins and other items.

**School Through the Ages**
Sit at historic school desks to learn about everyday school life during the German Imperial era and share your first-day-at-school photos with others!

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. | non-stop | Salon (ground floor)
**Object of the Month**
Historic thermometer from the Sport and Recreation Centre (SEZ) in Friedrichshain: This original artefact from the building, which is under threat of demolition, tells a piece of East Berlin’s history.

11 a.m. – 4 p.m. | non-stop | at the entrance
**Checkmate – Berlin plays!**
Outside the museum, it’s all about chess. Whether at a table or on the large open-air chessboard: just get started and play against each other! Members of the SC Borussia Lichtenberg e.V. chess club will be on hand to offer advice and support.

**Cabuwazi Circus**
Young circus performers will amaze you with a colourful street show featuring unicycles, hula hoops and more.

12 noon + 1.30 p.m. | 60 minutes | outside the museum
**Cabuwazi participatory Circus**
Join in and learn some great tricks for juggling, plate spinning or skipping!

3.30 p.m. | 45 minutes | inside the museum
**Careless Cats**
You can tap your feet and sing along at this family concert by the Berlin jazz band.

## Knoblauchhaus

11 a.m.–5 p.m. | non-stop | Children’s Salon (ground floor)
**Face painting for everyone**
This Sunday, the Nikolai Quarter is showing its colourful side! Here, anyone can have their face painted however they like – no matter how young or old.

12 noon–4 p.m. | non-stop | next to the museum
**Exploring the museum through a child’s eyes**
On Family Sunday, the Fröbel kindergarten “Schatzinsel” from Berlin-Mitte will be introducing itself. At a hands-on station, visitors of all ages can get creative and design colourful marble pictures.

## Picnic Bike

By the steps leading to the Ephraim Palace you’ll find coffee, soft drinks, cake from 11 am until 5 pm and a place where you can take a break with your own snacks and drinks.

**A whirlwind tour through “BerlinZeit”**
This guided tour offers an entertaining journey of discovery for the whole family.

**Meeting Point: Living Room**
In the special exhibition ‘Tapetenwechsel’, a live narrator recounts the everyday lives of migrants in Berlin.

**Meeting Point: Biedermeier**
Our guides will give you insights into life in Berlin between 1815 and 1848 through objects, documents and stories from the Knoblauch family. They’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
