What was life like in the area around Berlin some 800 years ago? The permanent exhibition at the open-air museum invites you to explore a medieval settlement on its original site. Here, you can find out how people lived, worked and went about their daily lives back then.

**Location**
Museumsdorf Düppel
Clauertstraße 11
14163 Berlin

**Opening Hours**
14 March - 7 November 2026
Sat + Sun | 10 am - 6 pm
during the holidays daily except Wed (please note special opening hours)

**Special Opening Hours** see Info & Service

**Admission**
6 Euros / free admission (under 18 years or with reduction)

The exhibition looks back on an era of change. Around 1200, our region was settled by Slavic peoples. However, since the founding of the Margraviate of Brandenburg, more and more people moved here from the west. The exhibition tells the story of how they lived and thought, how they built houses, made tools and grew food, what they ate and where their clothes came from. It also explains how the landscape changed over thousands of years and what it was like in the Middle Ages.

You’ll also find out what the archaeological digs since the 1970s have revealed about the settlement, which was discovered on the site of today’s open-air museum and has been partially reconstructed. You can explore it in the open-air exhibition area.

Fascinating facts and historical context bring the medieval village to life. At the interactive stations in the exhibition, you can smell, touch and try things out for yourself.

### History told

At audio stations in the exhibition, six fictional villagers talk about their everyday rural lives in the Middle Ages. They share their thoughts, worries, hopes and hardships, giving you a vivid impression of what the people who once lived here might have been like. You’ll meet them again in the outdoor area!
