Today, the Museumsdorf D\u00fcppel stands on this historic site. Across an area the size of ten football pitches, you can explore reconstructed houses, storehouses and workshops. There are also gardens and fields \u2013 right in Berlin\u2019s green outskirts. Since 1995, the open-air museum has been part of the Berlin Museum and invites you to explore life in the Middle Ages for yourself.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"block block-copy\">\n\t<div class=\"container-fluid\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-7\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"copy\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Thanks to the voluntary work of the members of the F\u00f6rderverein Museumsdorf D\u00fcppel e. V. (Friends of the D\u00fcppel Museum Village), you can experience the Middle Ages up close here at weekends. On all opening days, historical children\u2019s games await you, and in the afternoon, children and adults can have a go at archery. Five shots cost 1 euro. There\u2019s also crispy bread baked over an open fire, except during the school holidays. The <strong>oak trees in the open-air museum <\/strong>are also affected. Please note that <strong>the caterpillars&#8217; irritating hairs<\/strong> can be carried by the wind, so <strong>contact with them is possible anywhere on the museum grounds<\/strong>. The houses, the village square and the gardens give you an impression of what life in the countryside was like back then. At weekends during the season, the F\u00f6rderverein Museumsdorf D\u00fcppel e. V., the Middle Ages can be experienced up close here at weekends. Food is cooked in the houses, wood is carved and wool is made into clothing. Medieval crafts are also demonstrated, such as blacksmithing, pottery and bronze casting. This breed of sheep is now threatened with extinction. With the D&#xFC;ppel pasture pig, we are even bringing back a breed that had previously become extinct. All the animals are reared organically. They form an integral part of our landscape concept, which is geared towards diversity.
