Berlin now!

Covidarium (FFP2 mask wardrobe) – The German government decided at the time to extend the current coronavirus measures until 14 February. On top of that, there’s the requirement to wear a medical mask on BVG transport or in shops. But FFP2 masks are expensive! How can we reuse the mask hygienically? According to a study, it’s supposed to help to air the mask out for 7 days. So my husband developed this ‘Covidarium’ and gave it to me as a birthday present.

Collecting the present for the Berlin Museum of the future: You’ve sent us your photos and stories of everyday life in Berlin with the coronavirus.

From toilet paper shortages to the ubiquitous ‘masks’ and vaccination centres: from March 2020 onwards, everyday life in Berlin – as almost everywhere else in the world – changed in almost every aspect. We’re documenting this with the many photos you’ve sent in.

The photos show how life – and with it, the cityscape – changed, how people coped with the coronavirus measures, and how they encouraged one another. We want to continue this unique collection of photos with you in the future as the city’s ‘memory’ and preserve it for future generations.

With the call ‘Berlin now!’, we’re offering you a public platform for your stories. Your submissions will continue to be on display in the Berlin Museum’s online collection. Join us in documenting the present so that, together, we can tell the story of Berlin’s contemporary history!
