Research
What can objects from Berlin’s past tell us today? Research carried out at the Berlin Museum helps us to better understand our collections. We use the research results in our exhibitions. We also look at how visitors experience what we have to offer and how we can further develop our museums.
Our researchers, in collaboration with partners from the fields of education, culture and academia, investigate issues relating to Berlin’s urban society. These projects give rise to events and formats for the general public.
Our research focuses primarily on tracing the origins of the objects in our collections. In doing so, we examine whether they were forcibly taken from their owners as a result of persecution during the National Socialist era.
