About the Collection
The Berlin Museum preserves and maintains in its storage facilities around 4.5 million objects relating to the city’s culture and history.
But how do you tell the story of Berlin through objects? Our collection provides many answers to this question. We display selected items in our six museums, both in permanent and temporary exhibitions. Many objects can also be seen in exhibitions at other museums.
The collection continues to grow and is now one of the largest collections of urban and cultural history in Germany. The objects do more than simply preserve history; they also help us to ask new questions and find answers. That is why we make them available to researchers and lend them to other museums.
